 Overview |
|
The three Gilis Island are a
small-scale backpacker, most popular tourist destination. The
islands are very relaxed and laid-back, with countless little
beachside cafes playing reggae and serving up banana pancakes,
and no cars or motorbikes to disturb the peace. The beaches are
without a doubt better than anywhere on Bali or Lombok. The flip
side of the coin is that as they exist solely to cater for
travelers, they're also rather anonymous (you might as well be
at anywhere) and, aside from snorkeling and diving, there's
little if anything to do. Note that there are no ATMs on the
islands, so bring plenty of cash with you. From west to east,
the islands are:
* Gili Trawangan, or "Gili T" is by far the most developed with
plenty of backpacker options and one swanky resort. There are no
dogs on the island but according to one local, there are more
cats here than people. The local population is around 800. There
is no police on the island and all problems are usually settled
by the local "council".
* Gili Meno, the smallest and quietest, low-key with some simple
places to stay.
* Gili Air, closest to the mainland and with the largest local
population.
Strictly speaking, the name "Gili Islands" is rather redundant
as gili simply means "small island" in Sasak, but the name has
stuck and is universally used and understood in Lombok. |

People may say that there is only
one world and it is getting smaller, but when it comes to Lombok
with Anak Lombok, there seems to be a totally different world.
Our sea kayaking expedition will explore this area, paddling
from one small island to the next.
This is one of the last areas of Virgin Island left in the
world, home to an extraordinary array of beaches and corals, and
island of temple and volcanoes, of gentle music and elaborate
dance, coral fringed beaches, megalith culture and more....
That definitely forgets about time.
Combine Lombok"s most popular destination- the famous Gili
Islands- with a full day of sea kayaking and snorkelling! A
great tour for beach lovers and those looking for a fantastic
experiances. We use real "sit in" sea kayaks so you do less work
and have more fun! You will be accompanied by our own Adventure
Lombok Sampan or traditional fishing boat to ensure your safety
and to have the option of having a rest where and when you want
to. |

Itinerary:
Day 1: Senggigi – Malimbu – Gili Air – Gili Meno
Pick up from hotel in senggigi at 8 o’clock in the morning.
Kayaking will start at 8.30 from senggigi harbor; paddle to the
north following the west coast of Lombok. In one and half hour
we will be in Malimbu clift, stop over for snorkeling and having
a rest on the boat (coffee and snack times). Malimbu is famous
for its cliffs and its amazing landscape. The beach is fantastic
and the underwater world is also beautiful.
After an hours rest, we continue paddling to Teluk Kodek Bay,
then cross to Gili Air, having lunch in Gili Air. After lunch,
we will have a couple hours for relaxing and snorkeling. Around
3 o’clock in the afternoon we paddle to Gili Meno. Overnight in
Gili Meno.
Day 2: Gili Meno – Gili Trawangan – Senggigi
After breakfast, we paddle to Turtle Point for snorkelling, and
then continue to Gili Trawangan. Time spent in Gili Trawangan
will involve snorkelling, swimming and lunch. After lunch we
start our paddle again for Senggigi. Trip Finish. |
